I’m taking on the challenge of Stride4Stroke and raising funds for Stroke Foundation!

Hi there, I'm taking on the challenge of Stride4Stroke and raising funds for Stroke Foundation to help prevent stroke, save lives and enhance recovery.

I know all too well how your life can be turned upside down in an instant. The more people are aware of strokes the more likely they will survive. Thankfully the amazing ambulance officers who came to me knew what was happening and fought to get me the best help I needed. (Forever grateful)

In the next 11 minutes, someone, somewhere in Australia is going to have a stroke.

Stroke is one of Australia's biggest killers and doesn't discriminate; it affects anyone, anytime. It claims more lives than breast cancer in women and prostate cancer in men. And incredibly, up to 120 babies and 400 children have a stroke in Australia each year.

By supporting me, you'll be helping to sustain vital programs and resources that Stroke Foundation provides, including:

Preventing Stroke:

  • StrokeSafe Talks
  • Australia's Biggest Blood Pressure Check
  • Information Resources

Saving Lives:

  • F.A.S.T. (Face, Arms, Speech, Time) Signs of Stroke Awareness
  • Living Guidelines for Stroke Management
  • InformMe Website for Health Professionals

Enhancing Recovery:

  • StrokeLine
  • My Stroke Journey
  • EnableMe Website for Survivors of Stroke

Your support goes beyond just a donation; it's a lifeline for individuals at risk of stroke and survivors of stroke.

Thank you for supporting me. Together we can change the state of stroke in Australia for generations to come.

My Updates

Day 18

Sorry for no posts recently. Been pretty full on days. Been walking about 30mins each day. Been a struggle some days but have pushed myself. Little things like parking a bit further a way from something. Or getting the kids to walk with you to give you more motivation.

Day 14

Sorry I’ve been a bit slack posting.  I did a personal best of over 12000 steps, which to a normal person it probably doesn’t seem like much but for me it’s massive. I’ve been trying every day to do the 30 mins or more of exercise which is very much a physical and mental struggle.. Perseverance is what I’m aiming for. The more people that are aware of strokes and the multiple symptoms and not backing down when being fobbed off, the better?

Day 10

Had  a very productive day today. Did 1hour of walking and for me a massive 12000 steps. For everyone else that might not seem like much but for me that is a lot. I think this challenge has been good for me and hopefully gets more awareness out there?

Day 9

Fatigue has hit pretty hard the last two days but keep pushing through. I am determined to get the 30mins every day in. I’ve had to do in 10min lots the last couple of days, but everything helps.
As long as people are talking about it, there is more knowledge getting around.

Day 6 of stide4stroke

Not as tired today, did more today, I’d like to exercise more but more often than not my body says no.. But I will keep trying as every little bit helps. Thank you to everyone who has donated x

Day 4

Day 4 of stride4stroke, tired today but sill reached my goal?

So far I have helped Stroke Foundation deliver…

Initial advice and support from a health professional on StrokeLine

A stroke recovery pack to three survivors of stroke

Training to a StrokeSafe volunteer to deliver community talks.

Funding to stroke researchers to find the next game-changer in stroke.
