7 reasons why your participation is important

  • Stroke is Australia's second single greatest killer after coronary heart disease and is the leading cause of disability.
  • This year 60,000 Australian's will suffer a stroke. That's one stroke every 10 minutes.
  • 1 in 6 people will suffer a stroke in their lifetime.
  • 1/3 of stroke victims will die. 1/3 will remain disabled and only a 1/3 will recover.
  • Stroke kills more women than breast cancer and more men than prostate cancer.
  • About 88 per cent of stroke survivors live at home and most have a disability.
  • Around 20 per cent of all strokes occur to people under 55 years of age.

Stride4Stroke fun walk

The fun walk is designed to promote good health and stroke awareness and prevention with all proceeds raised directed to Shoalhaven Hospital Acute Stroke Unit for stroke research and development.

The fun walk is achievable for all ages at the same time offering fun and enjoyment. The goal of the Stride4Stroke Fun Walk is to create a stroke education program model that can be adopted by other communities throughout the country. All proceeds raised stay in the Shoalhaven.

These people are someone's sister, brother, wife, husband, daughter, son, partner, mother, baby, father, relation's or friends.

By participating in the BIG4 Bungalow Park Stride4Stroke Fun Walk and Outdoor Expo or donating to Ulladulla Strokecare Incorporation you will be helping fund research into Stroke and aid in the rehabilitation of stroke victims in the Shoalhaven area through the Shoalhaven Hospital Acute Stroke Unit.
